Pause/Resume sync

Diversion’s agent keeps you up to date with the latest changes in your repos by syncing them in the background. Whenever you save a change, it’s automatically uploaded to your workspace and you’re always backed-up.

Auto-pause

In some error cases, such as network issues, the agent will automatically pause syncing. You can keep editing, but committing is disabled until you resume, so a commit always includes the most recent synced changes. To resume the sync through the desktop app, click Resume in the workspace header inside the repo, or click the Diversion logo at the top left to open the dashboard and turn the Sync toggle back on for the workspace on its row in the Local Workspaces tab. You can also run the dv workspace resume command in the repo’s folder through the CLI.

What a paused sync looks like

While sync is paused, the workspace header reads Sync paused at dv.commit.<id> with a Resume button, until you resume. See Sync status for what the second line means, and for every other status the header and dashboard can show.

Manual Pause/Resume

You might not want to be auto-synced, for example if you’re making many small changes in a very large file, or if you’re on a slow network connection. You can pause sync from inside the repo, or from the dashboard. Inside the repo, open the … menu next to the workspace selector in the workspace header and turn Sync off. From the dashboard (click the Diversion logo at the top left), turn off the Sync toggle on the workspace’s row, like in the image below. Wait until sync has finished before pausing, so you don’t stop a transfer partway. Resuming works the same way, from either place.
